Adobe's Update to CS3 Will Take Longer Than Last Reported from Technology Posts

 In an interview with Bruce Chizen, chief executive of Adobe, Forbes.com's Danit Libor of was able to glean some info on the release of CS3 (Creative Suite 3). It had been previously reported that Adobe might release CS3 near the end of 2006. Apparently this is no longer the case.
According to Chizen, Adobe plans to release CS3 in the second quarter of 2007... At least a year from now. This is bad news for professional Mac users who want to use Photoshop or other Adobe pro apps on one of the newly introduced Intel based Macs.
Chizen did note that a new version of Acrobat will be coming in the fourth quarter of 2006. It will include additional technologies gained from Adobe's recent acquisition of Macromedia.
Since Apple has yet to release its line of professional based towers running on Intel based processors, there may yet be one hope for pros using Adobe products. Since Adobe's products run in emulation on the new hardware, they run slower than they did on the previous generation of hardware. If Apple can increase the processor speed on the upcoming hardware enough, it stands to reason that the emulation speeds might yet approach the speeds of the older generation and allow users to run the software at more acceptable speeds.
Apple may have cornered the market when it comes to video professionals. Its video production software is sophisticated and second to none. But if graphic professionals will have to wait another year to take advantage of new and faster hardware, Apple is in danger of losing ground in graphics community. Such a loss could be disastrous for Apple.
