Testing Flash Video & Christmas 2K from smanke's Personal Posts
October 27, 2005
Here's a video my wife and I shot while decorating the Christmas tree back in December of 2000.  I was just learning Final Cut Pro at the time, and it seemed like a good reason...

The Best Marketing Concepts from smanke's Personal Posts
June 27, 2005
I have always believed that the best marketing concepts involve humor.  Commercials that use humor to sell their product seem to be much more widely distributed.  These types of commercials tend to reach far beyond their original target markets.  This is largely due to the internet.  People tend to pass these videos around like wildfire.

A great example of this is the Trunk Monkey series of commercials used by Suburban Auto Group.  The commercials promote a local car dealership, but they have been more widely viewed online than they ever where in their small local targeted area.

Chicago Outlaws Cell Phone Usage from smanke's Personal Posts
May 17, 2005
Reading this story, it seems that the law only applies inside of Chicago city limits. It would be nice if the law applied state wide.

First of all, it seems silly to pass such a law from one city to the next. It seems ready to take advantage of unsuspecting motorists whom only travel to the city from time to time. How are they expected to know that the law has been passed? If signs are posted everywhere, this should not be an issue. I suppose only time will tell. But making this law apply state wide just seems more fitting.

I am a frequent cell phone user. Some of that time applies to me while I am in the car. It seems an ideal time to get some of the calls out of the way. Since my driving time is down time, as far as I am concerned, why not get something else done.

Project Motorsport:

Project Motorsport started out as a fun way to spend an afternoon. We set out to shoot some motorcycle video and have a good time. Once when we brought the video back and began to edit, we realized we had the making of a music video.

Check out the video and see for yourself. And, if your interested in further information on the project, we give you that too!

The Freedom to Switch:

In 2003 Apple Computer released a marketing campaign with the intention of showing Wintel users how easy it would be to "switch" platforms.

One of the Mac's main selling points, ironically enough, was Digital Video Editing. Apple wanted the world to see how easy it was to edit video on the Mac platform. And, in overwhelming response, Mac users set out to show the world just how easy it really was.

The campaign was effective for Apple, but also spawned a unexpected parody campaign in the Mac underworld. Users from all of the world whipped out their camcorders and set to work making spoofs in the same cinematic style as the acclaimed commercial line.

With this, Maclive.net rose to the challenge and shot our own spoof. We think it proves that a Mac can be a powerful tool in the wrong hands. It also shows how far a couple of Mac fans will go for a laugh. We hope you enjoy our contribution, aptly named The Freedom to Switch.
